The power of the spiral...
The spiral is a very common and powerful theme throughout nature. From the humble snail shell to the structure of galaxies it is everywhere. It is also a powerful metaphor for the way we journey through life. As we journey we often revisit the same things, but each time from a new, more expanded perspective. When we experience set back or trauma that causes us to try and backtrack in our lives, we are not only going backwards but also collapsing our horizons and perspective into a more restricted view of life.
The Upward Spiral Project represents a positive choice to take personal responsibility for our lives, harnessing the power of momentum that is inherent in the spiral and using it to create more of the things we want.
We’re all familiar with the concept of things being on a ‘downward spiral’ - when we let a series of undesired events or experiences get on top of us and start to feel like life is working against us and expecting things to go wrong, which generally will create a self-fulfilling prophecy. The basic tenet behind the concept of a downward spiral is that once things start to go wrong a snowball or avalanche effect kicks in that makes it hard to turn things around. The Upward Spiral Project is based on the belief that the same principle can be applied to positive events. If we allow ourselves to get caught up in a wave of positivity in the same way we might get caught in a wave of negativity we can create an Upward Spiral.
You may not choose what happens in your life but you certainly do choose how you interpret and react to the events in your life and where you focus your attention, and it is what you focus your energy and attention on that determines how you feel about life. Put more energy and attention on the things that make you feel happy and secure and grateful and less on the things that make you feel worried or sad or resentful and you will feel better. This won’t necessarily occur overnight, but if you put in consistent effort you will build a new habit and it will get easier and easier to do.
Join us and together we can create a global upward spiral and powerful evolution for humanity and transformation of our world.

Building a solid foundation
A successful and fulfilled life is built on a foundation of four key pillars which we have chosen to use as the building blocks for The Upward Spiral Project: physical well-being (Health), self-awareness and emotional well-being (Spirituality), community (Relationships) and financial stability (Money). These four elements are of course all interrelated and it is important to engage consciously with all of them and consider all of them in relation to any issue that arises in your life. For example if you are struggling with financial difficulties your initial thought may be to focus on money, but the underlying cause of your difficulties may in fact be that you are spending beyond your means because you're unhappy, and that might be driven by issues of health (such as messed up brain chemicals due to poor diet) or spirituality (such as feeling life has no purpose) or relationships (such as feeling lonely or isolated).

Health
It seems pretty obvious really when you think about it doesn't it, that a happy and successful life should be built on a foundation of good health. But how often do we get so caught up in the other things going on in our lives and fail to take care of the basics?
Good health shouldn't have to be complicated, but it sure can feel that way at times with so much conflicting advice about how to take best care of yourself, what you should and shouldn't eat, how you should and shouldn't exercise. Take some time to reconnect with you body and start letting it tell you what it needs and wants. Relationships
Unless you are a hermit living on an isolated mountain top your life is full of relationships. Friends, family, colleagues, neighbours and a variety of people you encounter as you go about your day - the bus driver, the barista making your morning cup of coffee and the checkout operator at the supermarket.
All these relationships, whether they be superficial or deeply meaningful, can be made richer and more rewarding when you approach them with positivity and generosity. |
Spirituality
Spirituality is about seeking a deeper understanding of ourselves, shedding the years of conditioning and other people's expectations and going within to find our true self. Through spirituality we find connection with others and with the natural world and a greater sense of peace and purpose.
For some people spirituality will be linked with religion, but there is no inherent connection between the two. Everyone's way of exploring and expressing their spirituality will be different. Enjoy and embrace your individuality and find what works for you. Money
Yes, money is a crucial factor in a happy and fulfilled life. No, you don't have to be rich to be happy, and yes, there is a lot more to happiness than money. But if you aren't managing your finances constructively, if you are battling old paralysing beliefs about money, if you feel conflict between what you really want financially and how you think society views your goals, then money is certainly impacting your happiness.
Make peace with your financial goals and desires. As long as you are acting with integrity and respect towards yourself and others then you have nothing to feel bad about. Turn your dreams into reality. |
